I clone RAT’s

rat1.gif A few years ago, I came across this company called “Build Your Own Clone” or BYOC, who sell do-it-yourself kits for making guitar effects pedals which replicate old  boutique style effects.

These kits are great. They come with everything you need for the build, housing, wire, all the components, all the hardware and even a printed circuit board (or PCB).

I finally bought one after I realised that Tym’s were stocking them and let loose.  I decided to buy the Mouse kit which replicates a Proco RAT Distortion. But the nice thing is, BYOC like to give you a few extras in their build kits and in this induce have made the PCB with a 6 poistion selection dial that can be use to select different versions of the RAT pedal.

I am currently working on an Overdrive II kit from BYOC. Hopefully it wont be too long before it is complete.
